--> Innovation and adoption

Real Estate Executive Education
Mr. Macomber chairs or co-chairs several Executive Education programs at Harvard Business School, Harvard Design School, and MIT focusing on various aspects of real estate development, investing, and delivery.

Real Estate Development, Design, and Construction
This advanced HBS elective course focuses on the early value creation stages of the real estate industry, including vision and proformas, the value of design, and the construction and commissioning stages of work in the built environment. Mr. Macomber co-taught this course in 2007-2008 to the present.

Strategy, Sustainability, and Economics
This class at Harvard Design School explores the balance between corporate strategy, real estate sustainability, and financial analysis. The overall objective is to provide analytical skills to help implement resource efficiency ideas in the built environment.

Real Property - HBS
Real Property is the core real estate class at Harvard Business School. Topics include financial analysis, discussion of the several product types, capital markets, negotiation, and future issues. Mr. Macomber taught a section of this course in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

Strategic Management
Originated at MIT and taught at Harvard and MIT since 1988, this course uses the case study method to illustrate how the core tools of strategic thinking are applied in real life companies in the real estate, construction, and design industries. Market segmentation, vertical integration, and coping with fragmentation are among the core themes.

Information Technology Strategy
This course, originated at MIT, concentrates on applying strategy tools to the adoption of information technology in the real estate, construction, and design industries. The focus is twofold: how do most companies deploy cost effective information technology for day to day advantage; and second, in what ways can aggressive information technology strategies actually change industry structure when used by aggressive firms with the standing and desire to do so.

BuildingVision Library
The BuildingVision Library database contains teaching material, course outlines, presentations and writings by John Macomber and others, and articles of interest to the study of strategic management and of information technology strategy in the design, construction, and real estate industries.
