With revenues in excess of $200,000,000 per year, the firm specialized in high service, relationship oriented work for private clients in the high tech, health care, educational, and biopharmaceutical industries. Clients included Cisco, Compaq, EMC, Fidelity Investments, State Street, MIT, Boston College, Alkermes, and others. The firm was founded in 1904 and closed in 2007. Mr. Macomber was CEO from 1990 to 1996 and majority stockholder from 1990 to closing.

The firm was acquired by e-Builder, Inc. in November of 2000. At the time, its flagship solution FirstLine was in use in over 600 companies with several thousand day to day users. The Company had a particular emphasis on ease of use and on customer care. The firm was largely financed by professional venture capital firms.
